There is no doubt that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. It is also true that today the real women - miracles of cosmetic surgery - are trans as the viral hashtag #savethedolls says, let's save the dolls. Natalia Aspesi, who was once the most corrosive lifestyle journalist in Italy, the deadly pen, certainly thinks so who has always valued wit and intelligence many notches above physical appearance. It took a trans woman, the first one she met (!) to make her change her mind, none other than Vladimiro Guadagno, aka Vladimir Luxuria.
“How cute Vladimir is,” “much better than she looks in the photos”, at almost sixty she even looks younger than fifty-year-olds, “how beautiful”, and then “what breasts!” Aspesi repeats several times throughout the interview on Friday – The whole truth about trans – holding up to the most iconic trans (once it would have been called transvestite) in Italy an imaginary mirror bigger than the Colosseum. No trace of his legendary irony. Indeed, comparing herself to Vladimir, the real woman, who already feels like Naomi Campbell, concludes with a misogynistic and masochistic harakiri “I am just an old woman, neither man nor woman.”
And it matters little that the only path Luxuria took to "change sex" was the journey that took her from home to the cosmetic surgeon where he had everything done. For Aspesi, to be a woman it is enough to “pass as”, in fact “why do you insist on being called trans?”. “We all transit”, philosophizes Guadagno, who, enjoying a certain status, has never had the need to “change sex” not even on his identity card. “Why don’t you call yourself madam,” insists Aspesi. But of course let's eliminate this category that smells of mold and move directly to self id. Let's make sure that everyone declares what they feel they are, What does it matter if men end up in women's prisons, as it happens in California, who run centers against sexual violence, as it happened in Scotland, that they win medals in women's sports, that gender quotas are watered down and that health statistics and violence statistics are distorted?

Luxuria's statement about the alleged denial of public spaces to trans people is not questioned. No one forbids trans women from attending public spaces, of course. What is being discussed are their alleged rights to enter private women's spaces. "Trans-exclusionary feminists do to trans women what men did to women," Luxuria insists, as if the oppression of trans women was the fault of gender-critical feminists and was remotely comparable to what women have suffered and in some parts of the world still suffer.
More serious journalism would have produced better questions: why does Natalia Aspesi lend herself to certain operations?
Vladimir Luxuria, you say that if you were admitted to the hospital among male patients, you would embarrass them, poor things. And on what principle should women find themselves with you as a bed neighbor? Is their objection worthless? Is your humiliation worth more than their respect?
When you say that you used to undress in front of women at the gym and no one ever found fault with it, you don't suspect that maybe they didn't have the courage to kick you out? And if someone, even just one, had protested, what would you have done? Would you have accused her of transphobia?
Why do you think women shouldn't have the right to spaces reserved exclusively for them?
Why do you think that listening to women's gossip, preferring rose water as an aftershave, wearing your sister's clothes are clear signs of belonging to the female gender? You who did not recognize yourself in the male gender why do you have such a stereotypical idea of the feminine?
You say that when the first hair appeared you felt so uncomfortable that you refused to look at yourself in the mirror and that you removed them all because they reminded you of being a male. Why this dysphoria? has it never involved your sexual organ that you also show off in skimpy bikinis?
These were the questions we wanted to hear from Aspesi. Instead we got the holy card and yet another stage for Pride.
