European research into the development of the so-called ARTIFICIAL TOOL is under way under the leadership of the University of Eindhoven (Netherlands).
The project coordinator, prof. Guid Oei (Eindhoven University of Technology) stated in a press release: 'Our goal is to help very premature babies survive the critical 24-28 week period with our artificial womb... If a foetus develops in an artificial womb, its chances of survival increase day by day. If we are able to bring the development of the fetus in the artificial womb to 28 weeks, we can reduce the risk of premature death to 15%.
The EU is funding the project with a total budget of EUR 2,876,131.25. This sum is distributed among the project participants as follows:
Eindhoven University of Technology (The Netherlands), EU contribution € 792 500
Aachen University Hospital (Germany), EU contribution € 831,943.75
Lifetec Group BV (The Netherlands), EU contribution € 451 875
Politecnico di Milano Italy, EU contribution € 400,000
Nemo Healthcare BV (The Netherlands), EU contribution € 399 812.50
The project started on 1 October 2019 and will end on 30 September 2024, currently funded for a period of 5 years. It is to be expected that a new application will be submitted after the expiry of the funding period, i.e. within three years.
The Dutch newspaper 'Eindhoven Dagblatt"published a photo of the presentation of Prof. Guid Oei's artificial uterus project. Although the concern about premature babies is understandable, a closer look reveals issues and ethical doubts.
With the declared aim of wanting to alleviate the suffering of parents, research is being carried out at the expense of innocent children. Instead of solving problems, new suffering is created. The "artificial womb" technology project is intended to offer people who are suffering a life-saving solution. This is cynicism!
Unfortunately politicians have been convinced by lobbyists and have wasted millions of taxpayers' money on this goal. The ethics councils promoting it are legitimising a crime against humanity.
Apparently the project on the Facebook page of the Máxima Medisch Centrum received only applause. When asked if he had been considered what would have become of the bond between mother and child if the baby had been in an artificial womb for weeksand what psychological consequences there would be at a later age, the Máxima Medisch Centrum replied briefly: 'Yes, it has been considered'.
In the promotional video "Artificial Womb: Dream or Nightmare?" we do not find self-critical tones even though the title promises them.
The Goethe Institute in Italy participates in the creation of apositive image for this research, with a calming strategyArtificial wombs are becoming a reality, but we should not be afraid of it. The image of the artificial womb is modelled on dystopian science fiction scenarios. Think of the breeding grounds in Brave New World or the human battery farm in Matrix. We associate technology with totalitarianism and all that is inhuman and unnatural. But in our time, artificial wombs could save the lives of children".
Already in 2017 there was public talk of an artificial womb already tested on animals. The so-called BioBag system was presented to the press with already developed live lambs: see here.
"In principle the results could be transferred to humans'. says Thomas Kohl, head of the German Centre for Fetal Surgery and Minimally Invasive Therapy (DZFT) in Giessen. The method must be given sufficient time to develop, which will certainly not be feasible without problems'.
We must neither give time to the method nor believe these claims! We can decide against the technologisation of births because we don't want them! This mentality is already a self-justification and has already led to much risky and ethically questionable research, sometimes even illegal, often with catastrophic consequences. This matter is not democracy but totalitarianism. It exposes others to incalculable risk without their permission, without giving them a say.
This must be countered with the utmost determination!
We, the signatories of this petition, ask the European Commission to stop all funding for this and similar projects, and to ban such experiments on humans and animals!
The so-called artificial uterus creates new problems whose complexity is neither manageable nor solvable. This device will not solve any problem. The 'artificial womb' means that a normally non-viable foetus or even embryo will grow in a device modelled on the womb, kept alive with nutrients through plastic tubes and removed from the machine at the end of the procedure. The safety transmitted to the baby in the womb through countless substances and sounds, effects that are still largely unknown, and the natural experience of the mother's life are prevented. The mortality rate of a foetus grown in an artificial womb is considered to be (quote) "higher risk" and it would only be 15%. This number would be a mere prophecy if human experimentation had not already taken place.
With the mother and her body, evolution created the optimal conditions for the birth of a healthy child. In nature, the development of a child is almost always initiated by the woman's choice and accompanied by the inscrutable female will during pregnancy. It is she and her body that decides whether, how and when the child is born. The most basic human right is to be carried and born of a mother! This inseparably includes the right to die with dignity. Not all the effects produced by the maternal body and its processes, as well as the influence of the future mother's lifestyle (epigenetics) on the child, have been studied. All these effects have a value for the child's existence and belong to it. The lack of one of these 'building blocks' causes damage to the child.
It is to be expected that tests will be carried out for as long as the foetus is in the 'artificial womb', including the time of its removal from the device and the time afterwards. The machine can only be further tested according to the 'trial and error' principle.". No one can measure the child's agony. It is known that children coming from the world of reproductive medicine have many more health problems. Nature, with its Cryptic Female Choice, often terminates pregnancies prematurely, and not by accident. Doctors cannot predict the damage, nor do they know the patients and their conditions as well as they would need to in order to be in favour of this method. You will only be able to protect yourself contractually. Everything else will be done only on trust. A child damaged by such human experiments will need medication and support for life, with no prospect of a cure.
It is foreseeable that attempts will be made to artificially breed ever younger foetuses or even embryos. The gap that exists between artificial insemination and the 'artificial womb' may one day be bridged. The mother is then reduced to an egg. The arbitrary removal of women's free choice makes men independent of women, and the child becomes an object of design. Human breeding would then be perfected. This interference in evolution and its social consequences cannot be ignored; it is inhuman irresponsibility. To trivialise or deny these risks is megalomania.
Once this technology is in the world, criminals will adopt it because the market promises exorbitant profits. Children could be taken from pregnant women to help rich childless people to have one, as is already the case with the illegal organ trade. Any paedophile could produce their child in this way, whether it is healthy or not would be 'irrelevant'. Women could be co-opted to give their little embryos for money, which would make surrogacy more attractive and also more profitable, with more pregnancies in less time. The 'wrong' gender would end up in the trash. Eventually, unfertilised eggs could also be forcibly removed or sold. Abortion could be permanently banned and women pushed into illegality. Overpopulation can already be attributed to the violent impediment of women's free choice by patriarchal ideology. Reproductive medicine has caused a shortage of women because of the prenatal gynaecide in many countries. The 'artificial womb' may further encourage these dynamics.
Reproductive medicine constantly moves in the direction of abolishing the mother and is presented as a good thing. One is persuaded of the normality of the total mechanisation of the body by the 'salami tactic'.
A world without mothers paves the way for patriarchy. The misogynistic exploitation of the female body is not abolished with the 'artificial womb', but further exacerbated. The suffering of the human children affected is immeasurable.

... is translated into the title of the exhibition where the photo above was taken. This mentality is a self-legitimation and it has already resulted in a lot of risky and ethically questionable, sometimes also illegal research - often with catastrophic consequences. The argument is not a democratic one, but a totalitarian one. It exposes others to an incalculable risk without their authorisation, without them being given a say.
This must be countered with all determination!
We, the signatories of this petition, call on the EU Commission to stop all funding for this and similar projects and to outlaw such experiments on humans and animals!
Reason
With the so-called artificial uterus, new problems are created, the complexity of which is neither manageable nor solvable. She won't solve any problems.
The 'artificial womb' means that a normally non-viable foetus or even an embryo grows in a device modeled on the uterus, while being kept alive with nutrients via plastic tubes and removed from it after the procedure is completed. Human security, conveyed to the child in the womb via countless, largely still unknown substances and noises, and the natural experience of the mother's life does not take place. The mortality of such a fetus is considered (quote) "greatest risk" and would be only 15%. This number would be pure prophecy if human experimentation had not possibly already been made.
With the mother and her body, evolution has created optimal conditions for a healthy child to be born. In nature, the development of a child is largely initiated by the woman's female choice and accompanied by the cryptic female choice during pregnancy. In doing so, she or her body decides whether, how and when the child is born. The most basic human right is to be carried and born by a mother! This also inseparably includes the right to die with dignity.
By far not all effects of the maternal body and its processes as well as the lifestyle of the expectant mother (epigenetics) on the child have been researched. All these effects are existential for the child and belong together. The lack of one of these "building blocks" causes damage to the child. It is to be expected that tests will be carried out during the entire time the fetus is in the "artificial uterus", including during its removal and afterwards. The machine can only be further developed according to the "trial and error" principle. Nobody can measure the agony of the child.
It is known that children who come through reproductive medicine world have significantly more health problems.
Nature, with its Cryptic Female Choice, often ends pregnancy prematurely, and not for nothing. Doctors can neither predict damage nor do they know their patients and their condition well enough to be able to make the decision in favour of this method. You will contractually protect yourself. Everything else will be done in good faith. A child damaged by such human experiments will need medication and aids for life without any prospect of a cure.
With EU money to a designer baby
It is foreseeable that attempts will be made to artificially raise ever younger fetuses or even embryos. The gap that previously existed between artificial insemination and the "artificial womb" can one day be closed. The mother is then reduced to the egg. The arbitrary departure from female choice makes men independent from women and the child becomes a design object. Human breeding would then be perfected. This interference in evolution and its social consequences cannot be overlooked and therefore an inhumane irresponsibility. To trivialise or deny these risks is megalomania.
Unleash criminal energies
Once this technology is in the world, criminals will adopt it because the market promises exorbitant profits. Babies could be ripped out of pregnant women in order to help rich childless children have a child, as is already the case with the illegal organ trade. Every pederast could generate his own child in this way, whether it is healthy or not, it would then be 'irrelevant'. Women could be hired to give their small embryos for money, which makes surrogacy more attractive and even more lucrative, with more pregnancies in less and less time. The "wrong" gender ends up in the trash. Eventually, even the unfertilized eggs could be forcibly torn away or sold. Abortion may be banned for good, women may be driven into illegality.
The overpopulation can already be attributed to the violent undermining of the female choice by patriarchal ideology. Reproductive medicine has led to a lack of women due to prenatal gynocide in many countries. The 'artificial uterus' can further encourage this.
Reproductive medicine continues to drive the abolition of the mother and is stylized as a benefactor. The normality of the total mechanization of the body is implemented in the heads in the salami tactic. A world without mothers clears the way for patriarchy. The misogynistic exploitation of the female body is not abolished with the "artificial uterus", but is further exacerbated. The suffering of affected human children is immeasurable.
